Srinagar, Mar 19 (KNO): The famed Almond garden popularly known as Badamwari in Rainawari areaof downtown is all set to open on March 21—the Navroz eve which also marks the onset of spring season in Valley. The serene and picturesque garden will be thrown open for the general public and tourists. To kick start the opening of the garden, Directorate of Tourism Kashmir will celebrate the opening with the Cultural Evening Programme on March 20. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) on March 19 (Friday), Director Tourism Dr.G.N.Itoo accompanied by other officials of the Tourism department inspected the Garden to review the arrangements and preparations before opening it for visitors. “Before the Garden will be thrown open on the eve of ‘Navrooz’, the Tourism Department is going to organise a brief Cultural Programme at 4:00 PM on 20 March on Saturday '', an official told KNO. With Tourism graph in the upward direction in Valley, the Tourism Department is expecting the visiting tourists in Kashmir will surely have a magnificent glimpse of Badamwari Garden. Pertinently, the Tourism department showcased the beauty of Badamwari in different Tourism promotional programmes in different parts of the Country in the past few weeks. The early bloom of flowers on Almond trees in the sprawling historic Badamwari Garden in Downtown City of Srinagar locally known as ‘Shahr-e-Khaas’ has become a source of attraction for nature lovers and tourists, alike. Situated on foothills of Koh-e-Maran, the 300 Kanals Garden is dotted with trees, flowers and cascades providing a soothing experience to the visitors. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility and Heritage Trust, the garden was revived by the JK Bank and was formally thrown open for public in 2008—(KNO)
